King of the Hill Revival

This. Is. Awesome.

There is a reboot of the beloved animated series King of the Hill coming to Hulu.

King of The Hill Revival, set in current times, premiers on Sunday with Season 1, Episode 1, “Return of The King” – The animated series from creator Mike Judge will feature Hank, Bobby as an adult, Bill, Dale, Peggy and the rest as the Hills and their friends try to navigate 2025.

EASTER EGGS FROM A POSTER

The long-awaited King of the Hill revival on Hulu has finally released its first official image in the form of a poster, and there’s a surprising amount of information we can glean from this single visual. The revival was announced years ago, but until now, most of our knowledge came from cast members’ unofficial comments and some major storyboard leaks. Let’s dive into what this poster reveals about the show and get excited about what’s to come.

RELATED: CAST AND EPISODE INFO FROM IMDB

First, we see our beloved characters once again hanging in the alley, but with noticeable changes. Boomhauer appears to have aged the most, with visible wrinkles, bags under his eyes, and a slightly receding hairline. Bill, interestingly, seems to have aged the least, perhaps due to his already less-than-stellar shape in the original series. Dale’s face is obscured by a VR headset, leaving his aging a mystery. Hank shows signs of aging with eye bags and slightly graying hair, but overall, the character models look great – naturally aged versions of the characters we know and love.

The poster also gives us insight into the show’s themes and potential storylines. True to the original series, which often focused on Hank Hill’s struggles to adapt to a changing world, we see a similar dynamic at play here. Bill, Dale, and Boomhauer have all embraced modern technology – Bill is getting food delivered, Dale is wearing a VR headset and vaping, and Boomhauer is using an iPad. Hank, however, is noticeably not engaging with any modern tech and doesn’t look particularly happy about his surroundings.

Interestingly, while the other characters are using modern technology, they’re still wearing their original outfits. Hank, on the other hand, is sporting a new look. This could hint at character development – perhaps the others have stagnated in their lives despite new gadgets, while Hank has grown in other ways, possibly in his career.

The poster is filled with modern elements that are likely to play into the show’s themes and plots:

A 5G tower in the background, possibly a subject of Dale’s conspiracies A drone carrying the Alamo beer logo Bill using “Megalo Eats,” a food delivery service from MegaloMart An electric scooter, possibly belonging to one of the younger characters.

Speaking of younger characters, we know from previous leaks that Bobby will be 21 years old and working as a chef at a fusion restaurant in Dallas. We’re also likely to see Gracie, Luanne and Lucky’s daughter, and possibly Good Hank (GH), Hank’s younger brother.

There have been some casting changes and rumors as well. Kahn will now be voiced by comedian Ronnie Chang, and it’s strongly rumored that Toby Huss (former voice of Kahn and Cotton) will take over the role of Dale following Johnny Hardwick’s unfortunate passing. Hardwick did record a handful of episodes before his death, so fans will still get to hear his final performances as Dale.

The fate of Luanne and Lucky in the show is still unknown, but it’s speculated that they may have been written out, with their daughter Gracie potentially taking on a larger role. Some fans theorize that Gracie moving into the Hill household could parallel Luanne’s move in the original series pilot.

Overall, the poster and the information we’ve gathered so far paint an exciting picture for the King of the Hill revival. It seems to be striking a balance between the familiar elements fans love and the exploration of how these characters navigate the modern world. The show appears poised to continue its tradition of using humor to comment on societal changes while maintaining the heart and character dynamics that made the original series so beloved.
