South Carolina has a 20.3 percent chance of making the 2025 College Football Playoff according to ESPN’s FPI. That number is on the high end relative to where it typically is and underscores the rightful expectations surrounding the Gamecocks program under fifth-year head coach Shane Beamer.
On this episode of Coffee, JC Shurburtt dives into the small but vocal “playoff or bust” crowd. While those folks are not wrong to have high expectations, is it really playoff or bust this year? Recruiting has been a huge topic this week and will be for the rest of June and throughout the summer. Those players aren’t going to play this coming season, so is it really a “small window” or merely an opportunity because Carolina seems to have the team to make a run (we believe).
It’s a fair and balanced discussion. Nobody is wrong on this one, but the belief on this end is that South Carolina is a sustainable program as long as the good recruiting and winning continue to take place.
