Socastee Braves

Socastee High School football played its first season in 1966.The current head coach is Ben Hampton.

The Braves compete in Region 5-AAAAA in the state of South Carolina.

The school is located in Horry County just west of Myrtle Beach (it’s address is Myrtle Beach) in what used to be a small farming community. The Braves have rivalries with Myrtle Beach High School, Conway High School, North Myrtle Beach High School and St. James High School, which was carved out of Socastee’s former attendance zone (St. James was a middle school in the 1990s).

Famous football alums include NFL wide receiver Hunter Renfrow, who is now with the Carolina Panthers. Renfrow caught the game-winning touchdown for Clemson in the Tigers’ 35-31 win against Alabama in the 2016 National Championship Game in Tampa, Fla. It was Clemson’s first national title since 1981 and the first for head coach Dabo Swinney.
